I am one of ten children (five boys and five girls) born to my parents. I am the youngest of the five boys and the ninth child in the overall pecking order. As my parents entered their mid-eighties in age, they began having a little trouble remembering all our names! Oftentimes calling me by one of my older brother’s names (“Billy”, “Des”, “Ronnie” or “Sonny”), I suggested to them that it might be easier to simply remember me as “#9”. Well, it stuck! When I’d visit my Mom and Dad, they’d look up and Dad would say, “Well, I’ll be, it’s ol’ number 9!” Both parents are gone now but my siblings still refer to me the same way and now you know why my username pops up as “Ol’ Number 9”!
I am married, have two beautiful daughters and three wonderful grandchildren (a 15-year-old granddaughter and twin 10-year-old grandsons). I am retired and currently live in Sarasota, FL. I was involved in the 2014-2015 Challenge but time constraints prohibited me from participating the past couple of years. However, I’ve decided it’s time I got back into the saddle and am excited about participating in the 2018-2019 Challenge!
